There is something to be said about the process of reinventing yourself every few years. I have mentioned it here before but at the chance of sounding repetitive, I have to share this story. Last night as I was reading the last pages of my book I came across a line and it brought tears to my eyes, made me stop, put down the book and think on the words. The words were, do it again. In bold print, sitting there by themselves in the middle of a page. To anyone else they may have skimmed right past them. But to me they stirred emotions deep within. Some may know that I put my heart and soul into what I do. I relish in my relationships with clients and truly feel there is a deeper meaning to why I am doing what I do. I feel that wholeheartedly.
Yet, there is a part of what I do that is about the art. And with each move there is a question of reinvention. I have taken each move as a time to reflect, to make sure I am true to my calling and that I am capturing what I see and what I am meant to share. Imagine if you will, a blank piece of paper. It is like taking that paper and not looking to any other source than what is within you to make something with it. That can be liberating as much as frightening. Now couple that with starting over in a new place where no one knows you and proving yourself worthy. That mix, if you let it, can be tough to push through. Tough to want to reinact over and over again. So when I read those words they made me stop and realize that I must, do it again.
This morning I awoke, wrote my check-list and sat down to create this blog post. I wanted to grab a few older pictures of the Anderson family to share the history I have had with this family. And when I went into their folder from 2006, it was like a gift confirming that my ‘blank’ piece of paper is geniunely mine. The art from my heart is always there…years ago and even now. I think you will understand more when you see what I saw.
