I see it in his eyes, I feel it in my heart. It makes me queasy. The time when everyone else’s opion matters more than your own. When you wonder if you will be accepted if you talk to your parents, hug you parents, take a picture with your parents…I didn’t see it when I was taking this shot. But moments later we had meltdown when Dad sang, “Jonathen, you’re my firework” as he was trying to share how proud he was of his performance. That caused him to slouch and hide in the middle seat and not speak. Which then led to life lession talk number 2,345. We talked about the meaning of family, what girls “really” like, and luckily we have a great big brother to reference that happens to have a great fiance that happened to be very open and loving to us around his friends and girlfriend, phew. I really felt like he got it. The moral of our story was, if you want to attract the right kind of girl or friend you must be the right kind of guy. The right kind of guy knows where he came from and isn’t afraid to love it. Oh how I hope this will take the edge off the age of acceptance.
