As our world gets crazier by the day right now it felt so good to slide the straps over my shoulders loaded with my gear. What once felt heavy now feels familiar and something I realized that I missed.
Even more I looked over and got to see Tyler doing the same. I have loved him from six feet away for months now and it never gets easier. But somehow gearing up together even though we were still apart felt comforting.
We are off to a slow and steady start here at the studio. As the numbers of covid cases soar we are doing everything we can to stay safe and connect with our families in the same familiar way.
This sweet family stole our hearts the first time we met them a few years ago. They were the perfect session to get our feet wet once again. To capture their love is like a dream for us.
One reason we love them is that when they mention that they would love a beach session and I come back and say, that I just happen to have a special location but we will have to drive three hours round trip, they don’t hesitate!
Let me just say it was worth every single mile.
As a special needs mom I love working with special needs families. I see you, I know you, and I connect with all that you pour into your little ones. While editing this session I teared up and had to stop to write Shauna to tell her what a heartfelt mother she is. I can feel it so strongly in this session.
The love between Shauna and Dustin is equally as inspiring. I would catch them looking at one another and they would smile this smile that steals your heart. When Tyler sent over the song suggestion for their family film I fell in love with the words for that reason.
Over and over anew

You can really see the glow of the Saharan Dust Plume that was in full effect during our session. The sky was soft without much color until the sunset came into light. What a beautiful session with a beautiful family.
As I edited their session I felt connected once again. Connected to my why and I realized that for me it started with you.
When I started Serena Nicole Studios fifteen years ago it was the first time I felt like my purpose and my profession were two of the same. I had forgotten how powerful that is.
Thank you Cheek Family for reminding me how lucky I am and helping me find a little part of myself that was still in quarantine. This was such a sweet family beach session.
Until Soon,
Serena Nicole
